My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for about 10 yrs. We visited doctor after doctor only for them to tell us it will never happen. It was so hard, but I kept praying and trying to find the one doctor who would say, "Yes". I even went to a holistic doctor also but again, nothing. The last obstetrician I went to said the same thing, “you will never have kids”.
However, the ultrasound tech showed me the pictures from the exam and he said, "You are very fertile." This gave me hope!
Shortly after that visit, I found a lump in my breast. After a few tests, I was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer. What a blow to say the least! At this point, I didn’t care about a baby as much. I was focusing on trying to survive.
I had 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a left mastectomy followed by 33 rounds of radiation, which left me with some pretty bad burns. My treatment took about 10 months. I had to wait some time to have reconstruction. I was scheduled for my reconstruction surgery on April 16, 2014. I went in to have my consultation and pre-op for surgery and …. I found out that I was pregnant!
The joy is unexplainable, I think I cried for about 30 mins straight. I am still in awe. God is so amazing! Not only was I cancer free but my whole body was healed!
I was pregnant . . . at 40. The reason I point out my age is because I know that someone is worried about their age; often thinking it is too late for you or you are 'too old'. Let me tell you, God will work miracles at any time!!
Keep praying and believing! Keep looking at baby clothes and writing down baby names and praying your body will do what it was created to do!
Whatever you do, do not give up hope!
